hello! i'm roman / mig — an aspiring narrative designer and game writer.
i'm taking the first steps into this field by sharing my work with others.
this is my most recent idea for a visual bl novel: "chlorosis."
plot / synopsis
frederick okafor — “freddie” if you ever meet him — is the type of person who goes unnoticed by everyone but plants. a withdrawn, mildly agoraphobic sophomore majoring in phytochemistry, freddie spends his days cloistered in labs, dorm corners, or pressed between books on alkaloid functions and medicinal botany. he finds comfort in controlled environments — isolated, quiet, blooming.
emotion? super overrated. dorm parties? he'd rather compost himself. but oblique sarcasm? ricin dosages in folklore? oh, he's insufferably delightful then.
freddie's world is meticulously composed of flower pressing rituals and repressed feelings — especially for ayato hoshino, the most radiant person he's ever seen bleed through a crowd.
ayato is everything he's not: outgoing, kind to a fault, alarmingly handsome, charismatic in that way that makes entire rooms orbit him. freddie only really spoke to him once — twice if he counts the moment ayato smiled while handing him a dropped syllabus like it was salvation. for most, ayato is daylight in human form.
for freddie, he's obsession in full bloom. but then — suddenly, horrifyingly — ayato vanishes.
a search. a vigil. empty campus bulletin boards. unanswered questions. nearly a year drips by. rumors die. freddie’s sanity doesn’t. he suffers waking nightmares, sees ayato in puddle reflections, hears whispers in bee-hums, and begins to hallucinate decaying wildflowers with bleeding petals and murmuring voices. yet heartbreak lingers deepest in silence.
finally, ayato is declared dead. a symbolic burial rises in ceremony, stone without a body. the entire student body mourns publicly — freddie mourns in a way that rewrites his stem cells.
on the grim morning he drags himself to ayato’s grave with flowers cradled in his arms... he's there. leaning against a tree. smiling. but something is terribly, terribly wrong.
